ABOUT The Grip

The Grip Jar Opener was invented in 1977 under a different name (the Lid Persuader) by our grandfather who was an aspiring entrepreneur from Oklahoma who saw a clear need for a tool to help people open stubborn lids effortlessly.

The first 20,000 were made in wood, and in 1982 we began manufacturing them in a solid mold injected plastic. Over the next few decades our product was sold through church and civics groups, the Helping Hand campaign through Oral Roberts University, and even featured on national television on the TBN network.

Whether you are old, young, arthritic, disabled, or just tired of struggling to open lids, our family wants to provide you with what many have called their “best friend in the kitchen,” and what others have said has given them back their independence.
