ABOUT The Grip

The Grip Jar Opener, originally The Lid Persuader, was invented in 1977 by an aspiring entrepreneur from Oklahoma as a tool for opening stubborn lids.

The first 20,000 were made in wood, and in 1982 they began manufacturing them in a solid mold injected plastic.

In 1984 the openers were marketed on T.V. using the name Helping Hand, and many thousands were sold. Since then, church and civic groups have sold the openers as The Lid Persuader for fund raisers globally.

The Grip Jar Opener has had several names through the years, but one thing has never changed; the fact that it always opens lids effortlessly.
